Broken Bow Lake
One of the largest lakes within the state of Oklahoma, Broken Bow Lake is a very scenic area as the lake sits at the foothills of the Kiamichi Mountains and is surrounded by Ouachita National Forrest. Broken Bow Lake is a good sized lake covering around 14,000 surface acres. It lies only about 40 miles south of us. It is good for swimming and boating, and is also the location of Beaver’s Bend State Park.
Cedar Lake
If your children are very young, you may prefer Cedar Lake. It is smaller, and has less use. The swimming area slopes off more gently than Broken Bow Lake, making it easier for young ones to play. The water is very dark. Cedar Lake is canoe and john boat accessible. Cedar Lake is located in southeast Oklahoma, in the pine and hardwood-forested mountains of Ouachita National Forest. Cedar Lake covers 86 acres and is situated at an elevation of 900 feet. Fall foliage season usually occurs from the last two weeks in October to the first two weeks in November.
