People ask us, “Have you ever seen Bigfoot up there where you live?” When I admit that I have not, their disappointment is enormous. However, although I’ve never actually seen him myself, and do not expect to, I have seen those who search for him.

For instance, the Discovery Channel stayed in our cabins when they came looking, proving of course, that Peckerwood Knob IS the best place to seek out the Proud Tall One. Five men and women, originating from various locations from London to Oklahoma, came and set up camera and sound in our Sunset Cabin. On the ground twenty feet below the deck, the perfect Bigfoot viewing area, they placed huge chunks of beef. (And me wondering what to fix for supper! Wish I’d know about that!)

A major ice storm set in. The electricity went out. We went up to see how they were faring. They were elated! “We’re getting some really spooky footage. It’s perfect!”

Ah, another satisfied customer at Peckerwood Lodge!

You can see this spooky footage, probably have seen it, at Bigfootville on the Discovery Channel. Yes, that was taken at Peckerwood Knob, which, let me note, does not always … actually hardly ever … looks that creepy.

Bigfoot seekers are sometimes perturbed to hear that we, who live here, have never actually met the big fellow. Just because we’ve never met, doesn’t mean we don’t give him his due respect. Country folk are like that. If he doesn’t want to be neighborly, (and who can blame him!) that’s his option, and we leave him be.

The truth is that it’s Mrs. Sasquatch who’s the goer and doer. (Don’t ever call her Ms! She’s proud of her man.)

She was up for a cup of sugar just last night. Had a nice talk about the hit she made at church redecorating the nursery, which led to her lengthy and quite humorous rendition of her efforts to decorate at home. Hilarious! Must be quite a struggle, however, she assures me, she does have what it takes to work around a very large, and usually immobile, mass of furry male, even his famous, but problematic, colossal feet. And of course, he loves his ATV, so there’s always time to get her work done while he’s gone.

You may ask, Is it kind? Is it truthful, never to introduce her to those who seek the big guy?

Maybe not, but … they never ask about her.

That's it! I'm not leaving. I've decided to make this my new reality. Peace and quiet, clean air, beautiful surroundings, a billion stars at night, birds instead of boom boxes.
Los Angeles, CA

-We so enjoyed the beauty of God's creation, the stillness of being away from the city, and the fun of playing as a family.

-I wish we could stay forever, but they're making me go home with them tomorrow. LR Age 6.

That’s it! I’m not leaving. I’ve decided to make this my new reality. Peace and quiet, clean air, beautiful surroundings, a billion stars at night, birds instead of boom boxes.
Los Angeles, CA

A trip on the Internet, a phone call to Oklahoma and I was able to produce a very restful, enjoyable and refreshing weekend for my family.
Sulfur Springs, TX

The cabin is cozy and spotless. . . the location of the cabin is ideal (we love how it’s so secluded) and the cabin itself looks like it was built only yesterday.
Dallas, TX

From the time we walked through the door, we have been impressed. This is more than we expected, the hospitality has been great. Cool mountain nights have been enjoyable. For people from the flat treeless plains of the Texas panhandle this is like staying in a postcard.
Amarillo, TX

Great family time, No TV, no phone. Plenty of card games, wrestling, pillow fights, and other such activities.
OKC, OK

…great fun watching all the kids enjoy the woods, rocks, hills, valleys, and all the rest of this wonderful place. Everything was perfect.
Anahuac, TX

Saw many woodpeckers, rabbits, a fox, turkey and squirrels, also several deer on two occasions AND a large black bear ambling across a dirt road not far from the cabin!
Richardson, TX

It’s exactly what my family and I needed with all of our hectic schedules, we never get to spend time as a family, just enjoying each other’s presence. This trip gave us a chance to calm down and realize how lucky we are to have each other.
Plano, TX
